I noticed an article on LifeHacker today: “Top 10 Ways to Access Blocked Stuff on The Web” and thought, ‘this is going to give the Firewall guys a real headache!’
This isn’t something new, however – I was writing about this large threat to corporate security more than 4 years ago. I.e the ability for corporate desktop users, to obtain software, that makes it really difficult to manage their internet access. The ‘threat’, wasn’t really from the end-user, but the folk on the internet who had started to publish just how easy it can be…
I often read LifeHacker articles and they are by no means the only offenders, as this sort of information can be had all over the web.
I guess the real irony regarding corporate security is that its greatest threat of all, is freedom of information.
Good article. I saw that too and was going to put it on my site. I haven’t gotten to it yet, but you’re fast.
Thanks also for your comment on my blog post, What’s the Fuss? I added some of your comments to my original post, and now it’s even better, thanks to you.
