So, who wants an iPad?

Well, not me I’m afraid. But I may well be in the minority –

I read somewhere, that Apple reckons it could ship 10 million iPads in its first year of launch.

So there are 10 million people out there who will get this gadget, for what? As far as I can tell, it’s too big for your pocket, so if you’re a bloke you’ll have to have a ‘man-bag’ to carry it around, it appears lousy to type anything on – so replying to email, surfing etc is going to be a pain.

So the question, really, is who is this thing for?

You could carry a visual portfolio around – which would be good for sales folk etc. but other than that I am at a loss to see the value? Other than to keep your ever-growing collection, of redundant, shiny objects in the attic, company.

I’ll probably get shot down in a ball of flame – for not preaching the gospel according to Apple.

Sometimes I believe in ‘disconnected is good’. People should reflect on what is really healthy for humans – being connected 24/7 has its uses, but it really isn’t going to sustain your soul.

  1. Tim,
I knew there was someone else out there like me! However, I must admit I am becoming more interested in the iPhone, but I can’t imagine buying one. I have a video iPod and would love a Mac.

    I’m only partially infected…

  2. Yes, I know what you mean – I am about to buy a new laptop, have looked at the Macs, but just can not see me spending twice the money, on half the spec…just because they have one of the best deign teams going.
