Killer Keyboard Shortcuts

I find these shortcuts indispensable for everyday work – I just use them again and again!

winkey + D = minimise everything and show the desktop

winkey + EĀ  = open an explorer window

Ctrl + Shift + ESC = run Windows Task Manager

Ctrl + ‘+’ = auto width all columns

When renaming lots of files – use tab key to goto the next file in the list

Drag and Drop

Drag any window to the right or left screen edge – it auto sizes to half the screen size

Resize one edge vertically, will expand the window to full screen height.

Photographers Beware!

tjbrison-jollylotti-0281-01102006-2Yes folks, I simply can’t believe it, but still I read comment after comment, on blogs and photography sites – by journalists and photographers alike – that they have ‘protection’ for their online work. Well, I beg to differ:

Your online photos are being stolen!

No matter what service you use or what precautions you take – it is easy to copy your online work. No technical knowledge required. Easy peasy. Am I going to tell you how to do it? Hell no!

The only way to protect your work is to use a huge, annoying, watermark. (See mine bottom right šŸ™‚ )

Well, at least, that was true.

Monster Backup Software Review!

HDD BlackUpdate! After further (almost!) exhaustive testing comes round 2 of this review. Unfortunately, I have not been able to find one single piece of software that covers the minimum requirements listed below – with the cavet that this review is aimed toward home users – not corporate environments. If you have several thousand to spend on a backup solution, there are plenty of options, but for now, home users will still have to compromise.

This review covers both commercial and free software – pitting them head to head!

Based upon my experience this article is not a statement of fact – all these products have good and bad points – but I hope it will help you evaluate the best.
