This last month I have been testing various online services – for home\/work use. So far the news isn’t all good – and I have my ISP to thank for this dire state of affairs.<\/p>\n

The plot: I would love to share a desktop (basically some online storage space), between various locations I may visit – via the internet.<\/p>\n

The products: well, we aren’t short of solutions – Dropbox, Live Mesh, Ghost Cloud Computing, Mozy, iDrive etc – there are tons of providers.<\/p>\n

The issue: I have DSL at most sites I visit – which while offering great download speeds is dire at upload<\/p>\n

I’m lucky to get 10 kB\/s upload speed…<\/h2>\n<\/blockquote>\n

So, online desktop or backup services are very slow to actually get anything uploaded to them – come on ISPs, get your act together and offer SDSL at rates everyone can afford.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
