{"id":115,"date":"2010-04-06T15:59:40","date_gmt":"2010-04-06T15:59:40","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/timbrison.wordpress.com\/?p=115"},"modified":"2010-04-06T15:59:40","modified_gmt":"2010-04-06T15:59:40","slug":"usb3-promising-greatness","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.uktech.co.uk\/blog\/2010\/04\/usb3-promising-greatness\/","title":{"rendered":"USB3 Promising Greatness"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>USB3 &#8211; &#8216;so what&#8217; I hear you cry?<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>5Gbps I respond!<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p><!--more-->Well, actually 5Gbps is only a theoretical maximum, but it will still blow the doors off all previous USB, all FireWire and even eSATA.<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>So, should you rush out and buy a new motherboard?<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>Well, er, no.<\/p>\n<p>Yes it will be fast and yes it will carry more power to external devices, but we won&#8217;t be able to realise all this goodness just yet &#8211; as devices that can actually use USB3 are only slowly starting to trickle out.
