This last month I have been testing various online services – for home/work use. So far the news isn’t all good – and I have my ISP to thank for this dire state of affairs.
The plot: I would love to share a desktop (basically some online storage space), between various locations I may visit – via the internet.
The products: well, we aren’t short of solutions – Dropbox, Live Mesh, Ghost Cloud Computing, Mozy, iDrive etc – there are tons of providers.
The issue: I have DSL at most sites I visit – which while offering great download speeds is dire at upload
I’m lucky to get 10 kB/s upload speed…
So, online desktop or backup services are very slow to actually get anything uploaded to them – come on ISPs, get your act together and offer SDSL at rates everyone can afford.
